Mayon Volcano spewed ashes during its phreatic eruption on Sunday afternoon as it remains under Alert Level 2.
“The event generated a booming sound, rockfall, pyroclastic density currents or PDC and a 1,200 meter-tall plume that drifted to the southwest,” Phivolcs said.

Phivolcs reminded the public not to enter the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ), adding that possible hazards like sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions, rockfalls or landslides, or lahars during heavy and prolonged rainfall may occur.
