A magnitude 6.0 earthquake was recorded off the east Coast of the Osumi Peninsula, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan on Wednesday.
The tremor, which reached level 4 on the Japanese scale, occurred around 10 pm local time with a depth of 40 km.
There is no risk of a tsunami, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
Initial information indicates that the tremor had its epicenter in the sea, close to the coast of the peninsula. So far, there are no reports of significant damage or casualties.
