An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 struck Southeastern Alaska at 06:46 GMT on Thursday, according to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The epicenter was initially located at 60.64 degrees north latitude and 140.00 degrees west longitude. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties following the seismic event.
