A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 magnitude struck Türkiye on Monday at 10:21 GMT, according to data released by the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.
The tremor’s epicenter was recorded at a depth of 92.1 kilometers (57.2 miles) below the surface, located at 36.91° north latitude and 30.89° east longitude.
Despite the depth of the quake, such seismic activity is often widely felt in surrounding regions, though immediate reports of damage or disruption have not yet been confirmed.

Monitoring agencies continue to assess the situation, while residents in nearby areas have reported light to moderate shaking. Deep-focus earthquakes like this typically result in less structural damage compared to shallow quakes, although they can be felt across greater distances.
Authorities are expected to issue further statements as more information becomes available.
