A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck near the east coast of Russia’s Kamchatka region on Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake’s epicenter was located about 111.7 kilometers (69.3 miles) east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the administrative center of the region, at a depth of 39 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface.

Authorities reported that there were no immediate injuries or significant damages following the earthquake. However, monitoring agencies continue to assess the situation in the affected areas.
