The Met Office has extended its amber weather warning, now covering large parts of England including all of Cheshire.
It comes into effect at 6pm this evening, when Storm Isha is expected to bring winds of up to 80mph.
“Disruption to travel and utilities is likely,” the Met Office website states,
Strong winds are not the only hazard tonight!

It continues. “There is a good chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
“Probably some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.
“Longer journey times and cancellations likely, as road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected.”
The Met Office also state that there is the potential Storm Isha could cause injuries and “danger to life”.

However, this is more likely in coastal areas, where large waves throw beach material onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Storm Isha is set the blow into Cheshire this afternoon bringing some very strong winds.
“Please drive to the conditions and be prepared for possible disruption.”

The amber warning will remain in place until around 6am on Monday (January 22).
A yellow weather warning, issued by the Met Office yesterday, will then come into effect.

However, this will only cover more northern parts of the county, including Northwich, Knutsford, Runcorn and Warrington.
Winsford, Sandbach and Crewe, among other towns, are not included in the warning area.
