A massive avalanche broke loose from the northern slope of Annapurna I in Nepal on Sunday, completely covering a mountaineers’ shelter in the Myagdi region within seconds.
The enormous wall of snow rushed down the mountain at high speed, creating thick clouds of powder and a powerful blast of air pressure. Witnesses described the scene as “a storm falling from the sky,” with many shouting in fear as the avalanche approached.
According to local authorities, no injuries have been reported so far, while an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the snow collapse.
