A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan, at 19:06 GMT on Monday, according to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.
The quake’s epicenter was located at 39.75°N latitude and 143.24°E longitude, with a shallow depth of 10 km, making the tremor more likely to be felt in surrounding areas.
So far, there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries, but authorities continue to monitor the situation given Japan’s frequent seismic activity.
