Environment Canada confirmed two tornadoes hit Quebec on Thursday.Severe thunderstorms caused trees to break and roofs to fly off throughout eastern and central Quebec.
An investigation by the Northern Tornadoes Project at the University of Western Ontario verified tornadoes hit Danville in the Eastern Townships and Lefebvre in the Central Quebec region.
In Danville at around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, a tornado moved from west to east, with maximum winds estimated at 155 kilometres per hour according to Environment Canada. The track length of the tornado was 14 km with a maximum width of 400 meters.
The second tornado was recorded in Lefebvre at around 3:20 p.m. Thursday, with maximum winds estimated at 115 km/h. This tornado also moved from west to east with a track length of 5.84 km and a maximum width of 230 meters.
