A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck western Türkiye on Saturday, with its epicenter located in Balikesir Province. The tremor was felt in surrounding areas, raising concern among residents.
According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the quake’s epicenter was near the city of Balikesir.
The depth of the quake was reported at approximately 10 kilometers.
No major injuries or significant damage have been reported.
Western Türkiye, including Balikesir, lies in an active seismic zone. Experts continue to emphasize the importance of earthquake preparedness and awareness, as tremors are a frequent occurrence in the region
