An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 shook the Northern mid-Atlantic ridge at 05:30 UTC, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said on Friday.
The quake’s epicenter was registered 902 kilometers south-west of Lajes das Flores in Portugal, with a population of 3,900 inhabitants, and 2031 km away from French archipelago of Saint Pierre and Miquelon with a population of 6,200. The earthquake hit at a depth of 10 kilometers.
