A magnitude-5.2 earthquake occurred in Lima Department in central Peru at around 15:53 Feb. 15.
The epicenter was about 13 km (8 miles) north-northwest of Chancay, and 64 km (40 miles) northwest of Lima. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 67 km (41 miles), and moderate shaking was felt throughout parts of central and western Peru, including in Lima, Ancash, Ica, and Huancavelica departments.
There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake, and significant damage is unlikely.
