A magnitude-5.1 earthquake occurred in the Gulf of California, near Baja California Sur State, at around 23:38 Feb. 14.
The epicenter was about 58 km (36 miles) east-northeast of Loreto.
The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and light shaking was probably felt in most of Baja California Sur, southern Sonora, and far northwestern Sinaloa states.
There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; however, damage is possible in areas near the epicenter.
