A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia, on Monday (Nov 17) at 8:12 p.m., according to the country’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
The quake was recorded near the Minahasa Peninsula at a depth of 105 km, marking the second strong earthquake to affect the region this month. Just two weeks earlier, on Nov 5, a tremor of the same magnitude had been detected in the very same area.
As with the earlier event, BMKG confirmed that there is no tsunami threat, easing concerns for coastal communities.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, but authorities continue to monitor the situation closely due to the recent seismic activity in the region.
