A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck off the southern Philippines on Tuesday, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ). The tremor occurred in the waters near the southern island of Mindanao at 10:45 GMT, with its epicenter located at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles).
Authorities reported no immediate damage to life or infrastructure, and monitoring agencies continue to observe the region for possible aftershocks.
