A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck off the Oregon coast on Thursday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The quake occurred far offshore but was felt by several residents along the coast.
The tremor was recorded at approximately 11:45 p.m. local time, about 142 miles (230 kilometers) west of Bandon.
It was followed by two smaller earthquakes, each measuring 3.0 magnitude, in the same offshore area.
According to the USGS website, 14 people reported feeling the 5.9-magnitude earthquake, mostly along the Oregon coastline.
The USGS confirmed there is no tsunami threat for the Oregon coast following the quake.
