A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck off the coast of Batangas at 6:43 p.m. on Monday (January 20), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The quake, tectonic in origin, had its epicenter located 26 km northwest of Calatagan, Batangas.
The tremor (Intensity III) in Quezon City, according to initial reports.
Authorities are monitoring for aftershocks and assessing potential damage.
