A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck the western coastal region of Japan earlier today, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). Despite the strength of the quake, no tsunami warning was issued.
The main earthquake occurred at 10:18 a.m. local time (03:18 a.m. Greece time) and was recorded in Shimane Prefecture. Approximately ten minutes later, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 was reported, raising concern among local residents.
So far, there have been no reports of serious damage or injuries. Local authorities continue to closely monitor the situation, while emergency services remain on alert. Japan is located in one of the world’s most seismically active regions and has advanced early-warning systems and disaster preparedness measures in place.
