Las Vegas is the most populous city in the US state of Nevada. The population of the city amounts to 675,592 inhabitants (2022). The city is an internationally renowned as a tourist destination, while it is especially famous for its huge number of casinos, shops, but also for its excellent cuisine and entertainment.
For these reasons it is even called “The Entertainment Capital of the World”. Las Vegas is also the county seat of Clark County. The Las Vegas metropolitan area has a population of 2,347,920 (2021). In Nevada, at a distance of 107 kilometers from Las Vegas in 1960, experiments with nuclear weapons began to be conducted. So the residents could see the mushrooms of the eruptions. However, the experiments were banned in 1965, as they put the residents at risk due to radioactivity.
